Julien Duvivier

Jean Renoir once proclaimed, "If I were an architect and I had to build a monument to the cinema, I would place a statue of [Julien] Duvivier above the entrance… This great technician, this rigorist, was a poet."
The West: Myth, Character, and Reinvention by Andy Warhol
Through June 26
In June 1963 Andy Warhol acquired his first silent 16mm Bolex movie camera. Three months later, for his first trip to California, Warhol brought along the Bolex and shot what he called a "home movie," Elvis at Ferus.
