Mad Cat Theatre Company presents Viva Bourgeois!
Mad Cat Theatre Company
presents
Viva Bourgeois
by Moliere adapted by Paul Tei
July 24- August 22, 2009
Thursdays- Saturdays, 8:00pm
THURSDAY : General Admission - $25, Students - $10 with valid ID
FRIDAY & SATURDAY: General Admission - $30
The French playwright Moliere, who is considered one of the greatest masters of comedy of Western literature, first presented Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme on October 14, 1670 before the court of Louis XIV at the château of Chambord by Molière's troupe of actors.
Now it's Mad Cat's turn.
Mad Cat's version will stay true to the story - well as close as possible - and satirize attempts at social climbing, poking fun both at the vulgar, pretentious middle-class and the vain, snobbish aristocracy; however, as can be seen in the title of this adaptation Viva Bourgeois there of course will be a Mad Cat twist. Turn back the clocks to 1971 and take note that Monsieur Jourdain resembles Elvis Presley. Welcome to Graceland where kung fu, prescription drugs and cheeseburgers are all the rage.
Directed by Paul Tei. Featuring Erik Fabregat, Erin Joy Schmidt, Joe Kimble, Troy Davidson, Caitlin Geier, Ivonne Arurdia, George Schiavone, Mathew Chapman, Tracey Barrow-Schoenblatt and Betsy Graver. Light Design by Sevim Abaza, Sound Design by Matt Corey, Set Design by Joe Kimble and Costume Design by Danielle Campbell
