South American/Latin Music: Tango, bolero, rumba, samba, milonga and chacarera.
Jorge Heilpern was born in Buenos Aires to Romanian and Polish parents. Music filled the air of the family household as his father took the budding musician to concert venues all over the city. At the age of 13 he got his first guitar and dedicated himself to singing at parties and school functions.

At 18, he enrolled in the Municipal Conservatory of Buenos Aires and joined a trio of classical baroque music. Years later he formed a pop group released his first single on CBS Argentina, giving Heilpern his first hit. Having received a degree as an economist from the University of Buenos Aires, he worked as a professional public servant. At this time following his passion for music and performing joined the crew of Hair. Years later the political turmoil in Argentina forced him to immigrate to New York City at the end of 1970.

A few years after the move, he had already established a music production company and composed music for NBC prime time shows like 'Cocaine: End of the Line,' 'Fast Forward,' and 'American Promises' for which his work won an Emmy. In 1990 he moved to Woodstock and formed a Latin dance band, playing venues like Trumps, Joyous Lake, Bearsville Theatre, Mid Civic Center Ulster, and Woodstock '94 with musicians of high caliber such as Garth Hudson, Paul Branin, Paul Duffy, Steve Rust, and Ken Macgloin.

At the end of the 1990s Tangoman played shows in Paris, Madrid, and Cologne on top of his tours of South America. After 7 years of living in Buenos Aires, he has moved back to Brooklyn and reunited with Garth Hudson at the River to River Summer Festival of New York 2005 and made also a return to the Joyous Lake in Woodstock.
